Artistic Season 2017/18

All
A group of extraordinary dancers are coming to Solomeo as part of the “Russian Seasons 2018 – Anno della Cultura Russa in Italia”.
Two bedrocks of the great, early 19th century repertoire, as interpreted by Stefan Milenkovich.
An extraordinary comedy, refined and chaotic, comic and cruel, ridiculous and mad; written in 1981, eight years later it became a blockbuster hit directed by Danny De Vito.
“Love exists if there is no deceit, therefore LOVE does not exist. Our attempt – states Latella – has been to work on the absence of and search for love, by borrowing the greatness of Torquato Tasso’s verse”
From oblivion to a most amazing rebirth, is already the subject of the fine book authored by Sardelli – one of the greatest experts of Vivaldi who happens to possess a rare eclecticism – and here it is expressed in this rich anthology.
“It’s not necessary to put characters on stage – explains Peter Brook in an interview with the Corriere della Sera –, at the heart of my theatre there has to be a story to tell, that is transmitted directly to the spectator’s imagination. Doing theatre is like talking to children, it’s about creating empathy between the narrator and the listener. And with this particular story, I’d like to transmit the theme of redemption to the audience”
eatro Cucinelli presents an event not to be missed featuring John Malkovich, one of the most distinguished and sophisticated artists on the world scene with no fewer than twenty-five awards and twenty-six nominations.
he formation of the string sextet (two violins, two violas, and two cellos, or three pairs of the same instruments, or also a double trio of different instruments) proved to be an excellent support for Brahms during his tormented career.
This performance portrays the beauty of Japanese gardens in a tale told through images and dance. Japanese gardens are worlds in miniature, and their origins are found in a story: Shiro, a brave young boy, is the first to leave his small mountain village and reach the sea, the ocean… He can go no further.
Aperfect fusion of American physicality and European sensitivity is the secret behind the success of New York’s Rioult Dance Theatre, a troupe that has met with universal acclaim due to its bold, imaginative interpretations of the greatest scores of all time.
The Florentine Luigi Cherubini was one of Beethoven’s most well-loved composers. Having achieved global fame as an opera composer, Cherubini was a central figure in the Parisian scene. He also made his own contributions to the genre of quartet music; resting on the grand tradition of Viennese classic music, he experimented with a lighter version that was deft and frivolous, adopting the “concertante” model.
For centuries the practice of transcribing has ensured a more widespread diffusion of great works, while also offering a variety of sounds (chamber and sometimes even “domestic” music) to music which wasn’t performed every day.
Dieci storie proprio così is an integral part of “Il Palcoscenico della legalità” (A Stage for Legality), a project promoted by Libera (an anti-mafia association), Fondazione Pol.i.s. (the Pol.i.s. Foundation), The “Giovanni e Francesca Falcone” Foundation, Centro Studi Paolo Borsellino (The Paolo Borsellino Research Facility), The University of Milan – Sociology of Organized Crime Course, Coordinamento campano dei familiari delle vittime innocenti della criminalità (Campania Organization for the Relatives of Innocent Crime Victims), Fondazione Silvia Ruotolo (the Silvia Ruotolo Foundation), and Italiachecambia.org. It’s sponsored by the Italian Ministry of Justice and the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism.
Domenico Starnone gives us a touching and deeply intense story, a masterful tale of an escape, a return, and all our failures: those that seem to be insurmountable, and those that keep us company throughout our lives.
On offer is a rich and diverse musical journey through music written for strings. There’s quite a bit of difference between the three pieces for solo cello: there’s one of Rossini’s most inspired pieces, Péchés de vieillesse; then Grand Tango, which Piazzolla composed in 1982 for Rostropovic; and then Twin Legends, composed by Roberto Molinelli in 2004 and commissioned by the musicians themselves.
Sono tratte dal suo ultimo lavoro, l’album FLYAWAY (Sony Music), le musiche di questo concerto in cui Piero Salvatori -artista Yamaha- suona sia il violoncello che il pianoforte.
Directors cannot help but be slightly wary of Beckett, that creator of cages that are so constricting that there’s little freedom to intervene or invent when staging a work which is so carefully dictated by his written words.
