La musica notturna per le vie di Madrid
A comprehensive anthology of Luigi Boccherini’s string quintets offers an immersive journey through the most distinctive works in his chamber music repertoire, highlighting the characteristic ensemble of two cellos and showcasing its full tonal and expressive range. Published in 1777, the two Quintets from Op. 20 were dedicated to the Spanish Infante Don Luis, for whom Boccherini had served as a ‘chamber virtuoso’ since 1769. Among his most celebrated and evocative works from the following decade are Fandango (1788) and La musica notturna per le vie di Madrid (c. 1780).
