G. Onslow (1784-1853)
Quartet in G minor op. 46 no. 21
F. Schubert (1797-1828)
Quartet in A minor D 804 Rosamunde
A diptych bringing together two composers and two works with opposite outcomes today, restoring them to their equality, to a time when the famous Schubert and far less renowned Onslow were both acclaimed and recognised as reference points of the chamber music genre.
The famous quartet D 804, for which in 1824 Liederfürst
reused material from the second intermezzo of
stage music for Rosamunde by Helmina von Chézy, is introduced by the third of the Quartets op. 46 by the Anglo-French composer, dating back to 1832.
