Il tango delle capinere is the composition of a mosaic of memories that makes the solitude of those who have survived unfortunate events, bearable. An elderly lady rummages through the contents of a chest. She removes a bottle of pills, a bridal veil, a remote control and lots of colourful balloons. The sound of a music box emerges from another trunk. An elderly man appears. He is dressed in old and worn attire. The man looks at the woman and smiles. He goes up to her immediately. He embraces her. The woman rests her head on his shoulder. He caresses her. She holds him tight so as not to lose her balance. He holds her up. They dance. He removes a pocket watch from his pocket and when midnight strikes, he lights a firecracker. They kiss. He throws a handful of confetti in the air. The party begins. Happy new year, my love! Now they are both sixteen. In bathing suits they promise each other eternal love. To the notes of old songs they see in the new year, dancing their love story in reverse.
