Music of Frescobaldi, Handel, Bach, Pescetti, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Prokofiev, Pärt
Two pianos battle it out in a risky game, a conversation between the apparent stillness of the “classical” repertoire’s written pages, and the “calculated risk” of pure invention, which is typically found in jazz. But there’s plenty of fun mixed in, too. Well- and lesser-known works from past composers who often thought of improvisation as a joyful pastime (Frescobaldi, Handel, Bach, and Mozart) are reinterpreted through impromptu and unique tributes, thus renewing a secular tradition which is technically skilful and playful at the same time.
